Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) will rename
four existing Light Rail stops with effect from 1 August 2003 (Friday). San Fat will be renamed as Tuen Mun,
Technical Institute as Tsing Wun, San Shek Wan as Lung Mun and Tin Shui Wai
Terminus as Tin Wing. Two ceremonies, one in Tuen
Mun and one in Tin Shui Wai, were held today (31 July) to mark the renaming. Speaking at one of the
ceremonies, Mr Tsui Wai Keung, KCRC General Manager, Light Rail Operations,
said one of the four Light Rail stops was renamed in line with the adjoining
West Rail station and the other three were named with the
latest landmarks in their locations. These would give these stops more
user-friendly identity. KCRC will carry out a series of activities to
inform passengers about the changes.
These include updating stop name signs, route maps, the service
hotline and website. In
addition, public announcements will be made at platforms and inside light
rail vehicles to inform passengers about the new names. Passengers can call the Light Rail Hotline
2468 7788 regarding enquiries on the renaming of the Light Rail stops. Other officiating guests at the ceremony in Tuen Mun
were Mr So
Shui Shing, Chairman of Tuen Mun District Council Traffic and Transport
Committee, Mr
Chan Wan Sang, Chairman of Tuen Mun District Council Railway Committee,
Ms Lung Shui
Hing and Mr Au
Chi Yuen, Tuen Mun District Council members. In Tin Shui Wai, the ceremony was officiated by Mr Cham Ka
Hung, Chairman of Tin Shui Wai Area Committee. |
