Overnight track works at Pui To Road viaduct

You may be aware that some Light Rail vehicles were diverted onto the Pui To Road viaduct on 23 August. But, did you know that most of the works for the route diversion were done in just one night?

In addition to connecting the tracks from Town Centre Stop and Pui To Stop to the viaduct, Light Rail conducted trial runs and system testing in order to ensure the normal operation of the tracks, points and signalling system on the new sections in order to increase operational safety and stability.

Back-to-school service arrangements meet passenger demand

At the beginning of the new school term, Light Rail deployed management staff at busy stops during morning peak hours to monitor the system and passenger travel patterns. Staff also conducted surveys to collect information on passenger flows, passenger numbers, service frequency and the functioning of Octopus entry/exit processors and ticket vending machines. With this information, Light Rail has been able to adjust its service to better meet passenger demand.

Facilities cater for the disabled

Light Rail has recently enhanced some of its facilities in order to better serve the needs of the disabled.

Platforms raised

The level of both platforms at Tuen Mun Hospital Stop were raised to match the floor height of light rail vehicles for easy boarding and alighting of wheelchair passengers.

Low-height Octopus Processors installed

A pair of low-height Octopus entry/exit processors was installed at each platform at Tuen Mun Hospital Stop for the convenience of wheelchair passengers.

Octopus processor with audible function installed

An Octopus processor with audible function was installed at Tuen Mun Ferry Pier Stop for the convenience of the visually-impaired.

Light Rail will continue to maintain a close dialogue with disabled groups in order to understand their needs. Improvement works and the installation of additional facilities will continue to be carried out at other stops to improve accessibility for passengers with disabilities.
